CONVENTION
Condor XIII -
March 3rd - 5th 2006, San Diego, California
Mathew Clayson has
been asked by the Condor XIII Science Fiction/gaming convention to organize
a LEGO room for the con - sort of a mini LEGO
convention. There’ll be several LEGO themed
activities.
Open
building contest:
A random assortment of LEGO will be on hand,
but we can always use more. This is similar
to the Jr Master builders contest at LL, but
no size limets. Prizes awarded.
Model
and MOC displays:
Any theme, but SF and Fantasy encouraged. And
prizes for the MOCs. Additional SF related models
will be on hand for those that want to build.
LEGO
Gaming:
BrikWars and Pirates throughout the weekend.
Materials for both games will be provided, but
you are welcome to bring items of your own.
LEGO
train display: Mathew will be running a loop of track around
the perimeter of the room, and bringing some
train stock. You are welcome to run his trains
or bring some of your own.
Imagine
an infinite number of monkeys, building with an infinite number
of bricks. Would they eventually come up with Galidor? No,
because monkeys get enough feces-throwing done in their off
time.
What
they would come up with would look an awful lot like Brickshelf,
where the people of the world go to post photos of all their
Lego creations. With hundreds of thousands of photos online,
you can find a Lego model of just about anything you can think
of, ranging from works of complete genius all the way down
to Bionicle imagery. (Sadly, Bionicle entries outnumber the
genius ones by about a hundred to one.)
A
Fleebnork is a nasty space critter who likes to chew on power couplings.
Fleebnorks aren't afraid to attack when provoked, and seem to be able
to consume and chew through almost anything.
